On February 5, 2026, NIMH issued the third, highest degree (red code) for expected significant rainfall (over 65 mm) in the southern part of the Smolyan and Kardzhali regions.
An orange code for significant rainfall (up to 65 mm) is in effect for the Haskovo, Sliven, and Stara Zagora regions, a yellow code for significant rainfall (up to 35 mm) for the Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Yambol, Burgas, Varna, Shumen, Gabrovo regions, and for the southern municipalities in the Lovech and Veliko Tarnovo regions.
A yellow code for icy conditions is in effect during the first half of the day in 7 regions in the northwestern part of the country and in the northern areas of the Lovech and Veliko Tarnovo regions.
A red code for heavy rainfall has been announced for tomorrow, February 5, for the Smolyan region. This was announced to BTA by the regional governor, Zahari Sirakov, after receiving notification from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
According to him, the river levels in the region are being constantly monitored.
The regional administration is in constant contact with the duty teams in the municipalities, and at the moment there have been no reports of critical situations.
All municipalities in the Smolyan region have up-to-date disaster and accident protection plans and are ready to react if necessary, the regional governor added.
