Nesebar Municipality has inaugurated a new sports facility at the "Ivan Vazov" Professional High School of Tourism in Sunny Beach, which will be used by students during physical education classes and in their free time. As announced by the Mayor of the municipality, Nikolay Dimitrov, the project aims to transform the school into a leading vocational institution with a modern educational environment.

The new sports and recreation zone was created by transforming part of the high school's courtyard according to modern requirements. The new space includes:

  • a multi-purpose court for volleyball, basketball, and mini-football;
  • a modern athletics track for running.

"A school environment should provide children with the opportunity to learn, but also to play sports, socialize, and build qualities that will serve them throughout their lives. To this end, we are building gymnasiums and sports grounds, and renovating school yards. At the same time, we are working on projects for the new technical and educational base for the High School of Tourism. Our ambition is to turn it into a leading vocational tourism school with a modern educational environment and excellent conditions for the education and development of young people," explained Nikolay Dimitrov.

According to the Mayor, investments in sports and school infrastructure are a key tool for promoting a healthy lifestyle among youth. "Through investments in school and sports infrastructure, we motivate our children to lead an active lifestyle. Therefore, every school in the municipality must have a modern sports facility that meets the daily needs of students and encourages their physical fitness. This is part of Nesebar Municipality's policy to create better conditions for the education, sports, and development of children and young people," he added.

The 2026/2027 school year begins for the students of "Ivan Vazov" with this modern addition, which will ensure higher quality conditions for movement and physical activity. On the occasion of the opening, Nikolay Dimitrov wished the children a successful start to the new school year and high achievements in mastering professions in tourism – the most significant sector for the local economy.

The event was attended by Hristina Dimitrova – a representative of the Regional Department of Education (RUO) – Burgas, as well as parents and relatives of the students. The school director, Hristina Andreeva, also congratulated the students on the first day of school. She emphasized her satisfaction with the successful collaboration, which allows the Professional High School of Tourism to constantly evolve and provide increasingly better conditions for the education and professional training of its students.
