Burgas Municipality is preparing a new program “Debuts” aimed at supporting young artists at the beginning of their professional careers. This was announced today during a final press conference on the project “Burgas – Green Haven of the Arts”, implemented by the Municipality under the Recovery and Development Plan within about six months.
“This is a new initiative that will enable young authors to take their first professional steps,” said the project manager and head of the “Culture” department at Burgas Municipality, Petar Parushev.
The Deputy Mayor for “Culture and Religious Affairs” Diana Savateva defined the program as “the next important step” in the development of local cultural policies. According to her, it will provide “real support for debut projects and access to stage and audience for young artists”.
A notice for the initiation of proceedings for the issuance of rules for the functioning of the program for 2026 has already been published on the Municipality's website, providing an opportunity for interested parties to provide suggestions and opinions.
According to the project on the Municipality's website, the program aims to support debut performances by Burgas artists and to finance professional projects in various fields of art – performing arts, music, literature, visual arts and screen arts.
Eligible candidates are both individual artists, including students, and groups who are realizing their first independent professional project. Funding is planned for a limited number of projects in each direction, with a budget of up to 2000 euros per project within a single session.
