City councillor Dilyan Georgiev has proposed a new night bus line for Burgas that would run only in summer. Under his plan, line N2 would run from South Bus Station to Lazur, Izgrev and Zornitsa, Burgas airport and Sarafovo, while the current night line N1 would stay the same.

Georgiev says the two lines won't overlap but will work alongside each other, with passengers able to change buses at South Bus Station. That way night buses would reach more neighborhoods, and getting to the airport and Sarafovo would be much easier. The change would help airport workers, passengers on late flights and people heading home after midnight in the summer months, he says.

Georgiev says the current night line misses several areas — parts of Izgrev and Zornitsa, the Sea Garden, Sarafovo and the airport.

"For a while now people in Burgas have been sending me ideas about night buses and about special tickets, mainly for the convenience of visitors to the city. With Eurovision 2027 coming up and our bid to become European Capital of Culture, I think now is the right time to think about how to make transport in our city better for everyone," he wrote.

Georgiev presented his proposals at a meeting of municipal committees. Besides the new night line, he wants officials to look into trial tickets valid for 24, 48 and 72 hours, as well as seven-day tickets. Whether that happens will depend on an economic analysis and on how busy the routes are. Georgiev says this idea is mainly meant for tourists visiting Burgas.

As a next step, he says specialists from the municipality and bus operator Burgasbus should draw up the analysis needed to judge whether the proposals can work.

"The goal here is simple and doable — better city transport after midnight, easier to use and more convenient for visitors to the city," the councillor said.

No deadline has been set yet for the municipality and Burgasbus to finish their analysis, and there's no word yet on when the new line might start.
