National Assembly Chair Mihaela Dotsova has convened an extraordinary parliamentary session for August 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM. The order was issued pursuant to Article 78, Item 1 of the Constitution, the parliament's press office announced.

The first item on the agenda is the second reading of amendments to the Civil Servant Act. With this, the National Assembly will conclude its work on legislative changes related to fulfilling commitments under the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The parliamentary press office noted that from its constitution on April 30 to July 31, 2026, the 52nd National Assembly adopted a completely new Anti-Corruption Act for persons holding public office, as well as amendments to the Water Act, the Criminal Procedure Code, the Judiciary Act, the Renewable Energy Act, and the Act on the Activities of Collective Investment Schemes and Other Undertakings for Collective Investment.

The second item on the agenda is the first reading of two bills amending the Agricultural Producers Assistance Act. Earlier, the parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee approved a measure requiring candidates for positions with high corruption risk to undergo integrity testing.

The chair of the parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee, Yanka Tyankova ("Progressive Bulgaria"), clarified before the committee meeting that the session on Tuesday, August 25, will focus on the Civil Servant Act.
