Over 400 calls for help following devastating storms

A severe situation affected large parts of the country following yesterday's intense rainfall and strong winds. The Ministry of Interior reported that between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM, over 400 calls were received on the 112 emergency line regarding material damage and people in distress.

The most severely affected regions are Burgas, Sliven, Yambol, Stara Zagora, and Varna.

Major damage by region

  • Burgas: The highest number of reports came from the municipalities of Pomorie, Primorsko, Tsarevo, Burgas, and Nesebar. There were 65 reported cases of fallen trees, 19 clogged storm drains, and 10 flooded buildings.
  • Varna: 109 calls were received, including 8 regarding people in distress, 24 regarding flooding, and 12 regarding traffic accidents.
  • Yambol and Sliven: Dozens of cases of fallen trees, rocks, and failures in the gas and electricity transmission networks were reported.

Unfortunately, there were also injured citizens – a child was slightly injured in Primorsko and two women in Yambol, all of whom were examined by emergency medical teams.

The situation today

At the moment, the situation is normalizing in most of the affected municipalities. Fire department and municipal teams are working on the ground to clear fallen branches and drain critical points. According to municipal administration data, there is no danger to human life, and the damage is primarily material.
