Over 11 million euros for natural disaster prevention
The Managing Authority of the Environment Programme (EP) 2021–2027 has launched a large-scale procedure to reduce the risk of adverse geodynamic processes. The financial resource, amounting to 11,151,244.39 euros, is aimed at implementing preventive and geo-protection measures.
The funds are earmarked and will help municipalities protect the population and infrastructure from dangerous landslides, rockfalls, erosion, and abrasion.
Which municipalities will receive support?
The approved municipalities that will benefit from the grant funding are:
- Pernik
- Chiprovtsi
- Burgas
- Vratsa
- Varna
- Gorna Oryahovitsa
- Dospat
Why are these measures needed?
The planned activities include the construction of protective facilities and enhanced monitoring. The main goal is to limit the risks to the life and health of the population, as well as to increase the resilience of these territories to the consequences of climate change. Абе хора, баси! Супер новина наистина, ама с две ръце! 11 милиона евро - това си е сериозно, да не кажа огромно. Особено като гледам какви дъждове имахме напоследък, а и все повече места стават рискови заради промените в климата... мн добре, че обръщат внимание на тези геозащити!
