Over 10 million euros for teacher transport and rent in Bulgaria

The state supports teachers with over 10 million euros

The Council of Ministers approved the allocation of 10,674,437 euros intended for the reimbursement of transport and rental expenses for pedagogical specialists. The measure is aimed at teachers who travel or live outside the settlement where they work.

The funds will cover 18,305 pedagogical specialists from 2,921 state and municipal educational institutions.

Distribution of aid:

• Travel expenses: Covered for 18,305 teachers.
• Rentals: Funds are reimbursed for 46 specialists from 41 institutions.

The resource is distributed among the budgets of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the municipalities.

Serious shortage of school buses

Despite the financial support, the system is facing a serious logistical problem. The Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Dr. Georgi Valchev, confirmed that requests for new school buses far exceed the ministry's capabilities. At the moment, there are 559 unfulfilled requests for the provision of specialized vehicles.
