Yesterday in Varna, during a peaceful march, a patrol car engaged in guarding the event, noticed that a motorcyclist was approaching the people. He was signaled to stop, but the driver did not obey the order and, in an attempt to thwart the check, passed through the legs of one of the police officers. A Sigma team followed the offender and stopped him in the area of Devnya Street, near the turn-off for the village of Topoli. It turned out that the motorcycle driver was a 47-year-old man, known to the law enforcement authorities for driving a vehicle after consuming alcohol - with a concentration of over 1.2 per mille, with no prior convictions. He was checked for alcohol use, and the test results were negative. The man refused a drug test and refused to provide a blood sample. Acts for administrative violations, as well as a protocol for a traffic accident, were drawn up against him. The offender's motorcycle was seized, and the driver was detained. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case. After reporting the materials to the duty prosecutor, the 47-year-old was remanded in custody for up to 72 hours.
The injured police officer was provided with medical assistance at a medical facility, after which he was released for home treatment.
