Interior Minister Daniel Mitev strongly criticized protesters outside the Haskovo Regional Police Department following the murder of 18-year-old Magdalena. Mitev labeled some participants as "political looters" exploiting the tragedy. He defended the Ministry of Interior, stating they acted swiftly after receiving the report, but by that time, Magdalena had already been killed.
The Minister also explained his reasons for requesting the resignation of Haskovo Regional Police Chief Ivan Rasokov. According to Mitev, Rasokov presented a false version of the events, misleading both him, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, and the public. Mitev emphasized that this statement led to the escalation of tensions and protests.
The detained 17-year-old classmate of Magdalena is in custody. The investigation is ongoing with witness interviews, inspections, expert examinations, and analysis of CCTV footage. However, voices in Haskovo accuse the police of slow reaction and inadequate actions.
