On June 18, around 1:30 a.m. at the Kalotina border checkpoint, an Audi passenger car entered Bulgaria, driven by a Turkish citizen. The driver and the passenger claimed they had nothing to declare, but the border police were suspicious of their behavior and subjected the vehicle to additional inspection.
During a joint inspection with customs officers, manipulations were found in the floor of the vehicle, as well as hidden compartments in the rear bumper and doors. In these, 52 packages containing a total of 26.835 kilograms of green leafy material, identified as marijuana, were found.

The driver, a Turkish citizen, and his passenger, a Belgian citizen, have been charged as defendants and are being held for up to 72 hours. The investigation of the initiated pre-trial proceedings continues under the leadership of the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office.
