Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev called on members of parliament not to turn the "Petrohan" case into a subject of political speculation during a hearing at the Parliamentary Committee on Internal Security and Public Order. The minister was responding to a question from Bozhidar Bozhanov of "Democratic Bulgaria" regarding details of the investigation into the case, explicitly emphasizing: "I appeal for the case not to be politicized, because that happens quite often."

Demerdzhiev explained that criminal proceedings are underway under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office and added that the commissioned expert reports are largely complete. According to him, it is necessary to find an answer to the most important question regarding the possibility of saving three human lives. Every step of the investigation is being carried out solely with the sanction of the Prosecutor's Office and in strict accordance with established legal procedures, the minister further noted.

The public will be officially informed about the final findings following a joint briefing to be held immediately after a working meeting scheduled for next week. The meeting will bring together the supervising prosecutors and the operational officers directly involved in the investigative actions. Furthermore, Ivan Demerdzhiev added that he has held several meetings with the relatives of those who died in the incident.
