Large-scale police operation: Over 550 kg of cannabis seized near Petrich and Sandanski

Large-scale operation against drug trafficking in Southwestern Bulgaria

On August 4, criminal investigators from the regional police departments in Petrich and Sandanski conducted a successful specialized police operation aimed at curbing the production and distribution of narcotic substances. As a result of the operation, significant quantities of cannabis were discovered.

The successful actions of the police led to the destruction of over half a ton of illegal production located in hard-to-reach areas.

Details about the discovered plantations

• Andako area (village of Dragush): In a designated plot, 512 cannabis plants were discovered with a total weight of approximately 523.780 kg.
• Zlatolistki Potok area (village of Katuntsi): In a field, an additional 25 plants were discovered weighing approximately 34.125 kg.

The total quantity of seized drugs amounts to 537 plants with a weight of 558 kilograms. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in connection with the cases, and the investigation to identify all persons involved continues.
