Large-scale operation exposed a network of counterfeit sunglasses with a million-volume scale

A large-scale police operation, led by the District Prosecutor's Office - Pazardzhik, uncovered a large-scale scheme for distributing fake sunglasses with international scope. On June 24, employees from the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime conducted extensive searches in three Bulgarian cities - Pazardzhik, Sofia, and the resort complex Sunny Beach.

During the specialized action, an impressive 6,000 pairs of imitation sunglasses were seized, which are exact copies of world-famous trademarks. The criminal group systematically imported articles from China, which after precise processing acquired the appearance of original products.

The investigation found that the fake glasses were distributed mainly along the Black Sea coast, with a particular concentration in the Burgas region and resort complexes with foreign tourists. Experts emphasized the exceptional danger of these imitations, which do not meet elementary safety standards and can cause serious health problems.

Criminal officers documented the group's activities for nearly a year before proceeding with the final operation. During the action, searches were conducted at eight different sites - warehouses, commercial premises, a printing house, a garage, and a residence, as well as one motor vehicle.

In addition to the glasses, the police seized multiple pieces of evidence - stickers, templates, and labels with logos of global brands, produced in a local printing house in Pazardzhik. The market value of the seized goods is estimated at an impressive 2,400,000 leva.

As a result of the operation, four people were brought to criminal responsibility - two Chinese and two Bulgarian citizens. The suspects were prohibited from leaving the country and placed under a "guarantee" measure. The investigation continues with expert examinations and witness interrogations.

Details of the large-scale action were presented during a joint briefing by the Deputy District Prosecutor of Pazardzhik, Zhivko Penev, and Vladimir Denev from the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, who is responsible for the Pazardzhik and Smolyan regions.
