Three people died and three were injured when a light truck left the road on a bend and plunged into a ravine about 50 metres deep in the Konyaalti area of the Turkish city of Antalya. The crash happened the day before yesterday at about 7pm.
Six people were travelling in the vehicle, which had the licence plate 07 NAP 43. The 67-year-old driver lost control on the bend, and the vehicle went through the guardrails and rolled down the slope until it stopped.
Drivers who saw the crash raised the alarm. Rescue and medical teams who arrived found that the driver and a 62-year-old passenger had died at the scene.
Teams from Turkey's disaster agency AFAD and the fire service spent half an hour freeing the four injured people, among them the driver's wife, and then took them to hospital. The woman died there. The other three, whom the source names only by the initials Leyla T., Berivan O. and Furkan Y., remain in hospital for treatment.
The bodies of the two people who died at the scene have been taken to the morgue of the Forensic Medicine Institute in Antalya.
