A Pernik resident with a criminal record was detained for assault after a traffic accident.

A criminally-charged man from Pernik has been detained for an assault following a minor traffic accident. The incident occurred yesterday around 8:00 pm at the "Shakhtor" roundabout in the regional city.

Two passenger cars collided without any casualties. The drivers started arguing about fault, during which a 28-year-old struck the other participant, a 48-year-old also from the city of Pernik, several times with his fists.

The police officers who arrived on the scene ended the ugly scenes and detained the aggressive man. A police measure has been imposed on him for a period of up to 24 hours, and the victim was examined at the "R. Angelova" hospital and released for home treatment.

A fast-track procedure has been initiated for inflicting bodily harm on hooliganism grounds. The prosecution has been notified, and the investigation is ongoing.
