Businessman from Pavlikeni who was missing for six days returns home
54-year-old businessman Dimitar Georgiev from Pavlikeni, who had been declared a nationwide missing person for six days, has returned to his home. The news was confirmed by the police after the man contacted his relatives himself and signaled that he was alive and unharmed.
Georgiev is the manager of a large bakery in Pavlikeni and his disappearance sparked a widespread reaction in the region. The search involved dozens of police officers, the gendarmerie, divers, and volunteers who combed through wooded areas, water bodies, and adjacent terrain around the town.
How the search began
On the morning of July 8, Dimitar Georgiev parked his car in front of the bakery but did not enter his workplace. Cameras from neighboring buildings caught him leaving his car and heading on foot along a dirt road toward a wooded area, leaving his phones, wallet, and personal documents inside.
After his relatives could not contact him by noon, a report was filed with the police and the man was declared a national missing person. Initially, a version of kidnapping was discussed, but the Ministry of Interior stated even then that there was no evidence of violence or threats against the businessman.
Large-scale operation without result
In the following days, law enforcement agencies organized a large-scale search operation with the participation of the gendarmerie, military units, divers, and volunteers from the region. Drones and thermal cameras were used, and the police called on citizens to report any sightings of the man or traces of him.
Despite the wide scope of the searches and the dozens of locations covered, no trace of Georgiev was found until the sixth day. This increased the tension among his relatives and fellow citizens, and numerous speculations about the reasons for the disappearance appeared in the public space.
The return and the position of the Ministry of Interior
Six days after the start of the search, the businessman returned to his home, and according to initial information, he was not physically injured. The police immediately ended the search operation and began further conversations with Georgiev to clarify the motives for his absence.
The Ministry of Interior reports that at the moment there is no evidence of a crime or abduction in the case. Investigators are working on the theory that it was a voluntary departure and personal motives, but they are not giving further details, citing the right to privacy.
The reaction in Pavlikeni
The news of Dimitar Georgiev's return was met with relief by his family, colleagues, and the residents of Pavlikeni, who had been actively participating in the search for days. Many of the volunteers shared that they joined the action because they know the businessman as an employer and a person who supports the local community.

At the same time, the case raised questions about the psychological pressure on people taking on large responsibilities in business and society, as well as the need for a more open conversation about mental health. The police urged citizens to exercise moderation in public comments and rumors until official authorities complete their checks on the case.
