Evtim Miloshev: The culture budget will not be cut, this is fake news

No cuts to culture funding

Minister of Culture Evtim Miloshev described the claims that the state is planning a 10% reduction in the sector's budget as "fake news." In an interview for "The Day Begins with Georgi Lyubenov," he clarified that the administrative reform required by the Ministry of Finance affects the state administration as a whole but explicitly excludes municipalities and organizations with delegated budgets.

"Facts are boring, interpretations are very loud. Culture is not an expense, but a long-term investment of a nation," Miloshev stated.

Highlights of the reform:

• Optimization: The plan involves cutting only vacant positions.
• Financial sustainability: Miloshev emphasized that the goal is a gradual and sustainable increase in funding for the sector.
• Bad practices: The Minister acknowledged the existence of imbalances and projects that are lawful, but inexpedient or immoral.

Miloshev also commented on the idea of a "Home for Young Artists," supported by DARA, emphasizing that it is entirely realistic and follows global models. Regarding "Eurovision," he added that an organizing committee has already been formed to support Bulgaria's participation.
