Police in Burgas detained two drivers yesterday who had used methamphetamine before driving. Both stops took place in the Dolno Ezerovo district of Burgas, seven hours apart, the Burgas regional police directorate said.

Police seized the car of the 33-year-old woman driver.

Officers from the Second District Police Department stopped the first driver at about 10:30am. He is a 40-year-old man from Burgas, driving a Volkswagen Passat with Haskovo plates. A check showed he had used methamphetamine.

The man remains in custody under a detention order of up to 24 hours. Fast-track proceedings have begun against him.

At about 5:30pm, officers stopped a Mercedes C 220 with Burgas plates in the same district. The driver, a 33-year-old woman from Burgas, also tested positive for methamphetamine.

She has been detained too, and fast-track proceedings have been opened in her case as well.

The two cases are separate. Police say they have no information that the man and the woman know each other or are connected.
