According to the official statement, the incident affected an electrical generator located outside the inner security perimeter of the plant.

"Abu Dhabi authorities responded to a fire that broke out in an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah NPP in the Al Dhafra region, caused by a drone strike," states a post by the Abu Dhabi Media Office on social media.

No casualties and no danger to radiation safety

According to the authorities, there were no deaths or injuries in the incident.

Competent services emphasize that there is no change in radiation levels and no impact on the radiation safety of the plant or the environment has been established.

"There are no reports of casualties and no impact on radiation safety levels," the media office added.

Response of authorities and follow-up actions

Fire and police teams were sent to the scene, where they responded to the alert and extinguished the fire.

An investigation into the origin of the drone and the circumstances surrounding the strike is underway, as well as an assessment of the damage caused to the infrastructure around the generator.
