DPS accused regional minister Ivan Shishkov and other cabinet members of cancelling contracts signed years ago so they can sign new ones at higher prices and take control of public money. The accusations are in a statement issued today by the party of Delyan Peevski.

This follows our earlier report on DPS's demand that the three ministers be questioned in parliament over Peevski's flights. The party's press office said then that its group was filing the request in parliament.

The new statement insists that Shishkov, finance minister Galab Donev and interior minister Ivan Demerdzhiev must appear in the National Assembly and answer for what they have done and failed to do.

DPS has given prosecutors questions about suspected schemes to inflate the cost of guardrail contracts. The party says Shishkov is trying to hush up the questions, and that economic interests are involved in the schemes. His attempts to change the subject "are nothing but a clumsy attempt at crisis PR", the statement says.

DPS claims the new contracts will go to firms close to the ruling parties. It says the ministers are dodging parliamentary scrutiny and mostly speak in a "controlled environment and TikTok communication".

DPS said it will keep looking for information and will alert the authorities.

"Guardrails and road safety must be built and guaranteed in the way that is safest for people," the statement adds.
