The weather will be warmer than normal for the season over the next few days, with temperatures hitting summer levels on Thursday and Friday, meteorologist Nikolay Vasilkovski says.
Skies will stay almost clear on Thursday and Friday, October 8 and 9, and daytime temperatures will reach around 27-28 degrees in some parts of Bulgaria. Early in the morning, temperatures will be close to zero, with a risk of frost — normal for this time of year.
A cold front will cross the country on Friday, moving from the northwest to the southeast and bringing rain in some areas. Behind it, parts of the Danube Plain will cool slightly.
The weather will turn worse on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the heaviest rain on Friday and Saturday. Vasilkovski says the rain will be local and won't be enough to soak the ground.
A colder spell is due on October 14, 15 and 16, bringing autumn rain, heavy in some places. Daytime temperatures will then drop to 10-15 degrees, with early mornings around 0 degrees and a risk of frost.
"The trouble is, people dress a bit warmer in the morning because of the low temperature, then put on short sleeves and shorts in the afternoon — and end up catching a cold. That's how people get sick," Vasilkovski warned.
