The market value of the narcotics discovered in Dimitar Hristov's truck during a major police operation could reach over 15 million euros. The vehicle was stopped by officers from the General Directorate of Border Police on Friday around 1:00 PM while entering Burgas from Sofia. During the subsequent search, as reported by Deputy District Prosecutor and lead investigator Svetoslav Marinchev, pallets containing duffel bags full of drugs were found in the truck. A total of 110 kilograms of a powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine and 230 kilograms of herbal material that tested positive for marijuana were identified, all divided into packages of approximately one kilogram each.

Following this arrest, which took place on September 4, the Burgas District Court imposed the strictest custodial measure, "remand in custody," for the defendant, Dimitar Hristov. During the court hearing, he denied knowing the nature of his cargo, claiming he had been hired by a private company to transport old pallets from Sofia to Pomorie. Through his defense attorney, the accused explained that the pallets were tightly wrapped in foil, which prevented him from inspecting their contents, and he requested "house arrest" instead.

The prosecution firmly insisted that Hristov remain in custody, citing the risk of him fleeing or influencing the course of the investigation by exerting pressure on associated individuals. Prosecutors further pointed out that the defendant used at least two different addresses in Sofia, while his minor child is registered at a third, adding that Hristov has frequently left the country in recent years using various motor vehicles.

In response to these arguments, the defense emphasized that driving vehicles belonging to others is not a crime and reminded the court that Hristov has a clean criminal record and is responsible for a minor child. At this time, the ruling by the Burgas magistrates is not final and is subject to appeal or protest before the Appellate Court.
