Ten-year-old Plamena is the first patient to leave the St. Anastasia Children's Hospital in Burgas. Her discharge fell on her birthday. The girl celebrated her big day in the pediatric clinic with the medical team that cared for her.
Her doctors, gastroentrologist Dr. Hristo Naydenov, pediatrician Dr. Daniel Zhelev, and Dr. Marieta Dineva, were there with her. Nurse Fatme Ahmed and health assistant Hristiyana Peycheva also joined. Early that morning, the team surprised the young patient with gifts, including a special "Tree of Life" for her to grow at home.
Other specialists who cared for the child during her stay include:
- gastroentrologist Assoc. Prof. Petyo Hadzhiyski
- cardiologist Dr. Dima Zlateva
- pediatrician Dr. Maria Mincheva
- new team members Dr. Violeta Ivanova and Dr. Lyuliana Gineva
- ward head nurse Maria Damyanova, who met the young patient.
The Children's Hospital in Burgas could only start seeing patients after St. Anastasia Hospital signed a contract with the Health Insurance Fund. Plamena is one of thousands of children who had check-ups at the hospital in August and September. After seeing gastroentrologist Dr. Hristo Naydenov, she was sent to the hospital for planned care.
"I am delighted by the care and attitude of everyone in the hospital. Smiling people and a friendly environment make you feel calm and in the right place. Thank you to the ward team for taking such good care of my child," Plamena's mother said.
While in the hospital, Plamena and other children could choose between a playroom or a study room. They could also pick between books and toys. Parents and carers at St. Anastasia Hospital can also relax, as there are special spaces for them to stay with their children during the whole stay.
