The Romanian electric hatchback Dacia Spring, whose production takes place in China, has undergone a second significant update, which has led to remarkably improved features. Since its launch on the European market, Dacia has managed to sell an impressive over 180,000 units of this model. For consumers on the Old Continent, orders for the updated Spring version will open in November.

The electric Dacia Spring, with a length of 3.70 meters and a wheelbase of 2.42 meters, appeared in the Dacia range in 2021. Based on the CMF-A platform, which was initially used in 2015 by the budget gasoline hatchback Renault Kwid, developed specifically for developing markets, this model quickly gained popularity.

Recently, the smallest Dacia has undergone a transformation beyond recognition, marking significant progress in its design and technical characteristics. The new Spring edition impresses with a completely updated exterior and interior design, as well as the promise of more dynamic performance, thanks to a more than 40% more powerful electric motor.

Last year, the Dacia Spring underwent a facelift, which included important technical improvements. Now, the company has undertaken another, more extensive update. The Romanian brand announced a reinforced central floor section of the Spring's body, where a new lithium iron phosphate battery is integrated. As a result, the overall structural rigidity of the car has been increased, and the weight distribution has been improved, although specific data has not been provided.

The impression is of smoother handling of the Spring, which is achieved not only through the increased rigidity of the body, but also through new settings of the electric power steering, redesigned spring and shock absorber settings, as well as the addition of a front stabilizer bar as standard. Braking efficiency has also been improved, which is due to more powerful electric motors and increased regenerative power.

The new battery offers a capacity of 24.3 kWh, which is a slight decrease compared to the previous 26.8 kWh. However, the reduced capacity has not affected the range on a single charge, which remains 225 km according to the WLTP cycle. This is due to the lighter weight of the new battery, compared to the previous version, as well as improved aerodynamic characteristics, including new aprons on the lower part of the body and a new spoiler on the rear hatch, which have contributed to reducing the air resistance coefficient.

The maximum power for charging the battery has been increased from 30 kW to 40 kW, which allows charging from 20% to 80% in an impressive 29 minutes, although this function is only available as an option. A 7 kW AC charger is included as standard. The updated Dacia Spring retains two electric motors, but their power has been increased. In the Essential and Expression versions, the power has been increased from 45 hp to 70 hp, and in the highest Extreme trim level, the power has been increased from 65 hp to 100 hp. The acceleration time from 80 km/h to 120 km/h has been reduced from 26.2 seconds to 10.3 seconds and from 14 seconds to 6.9 seconds, respectively, improving the car's dynamics. Other performance characteristics remain undisclosed at this time.

The updated Dacia Spring retains many of the visual features from the 2024 facelift, emphasizing the aerodynamic improvements. However, the base Essential version still does not have air conditioning and a multimedia screen, but it offers three mounting points for the innovative YouClip system. This system includes practical solutions such as a cloth bag, a smartphone holder with built-in inductive charging and a cup holder with an integrated flashlight, as well as a bag hook in the front of the cabin. The capacity of the main trunk remains unchanged - 308 liters, as well as 1004 liters with the rear backrests folded. However, the capacity of the front trunk is slightly reduced from 35 liters to 32 liters, due to the new electric motor.
