The deadline for finalizing candidate registration is September 22, with initiative committees having the opportunity to submit the required documents for participation in the elections between 9:30 a.m. on September 7 and 5:00 p.m. on September 14.
In parallel with this process, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has instructed the General Directorate of Civil Registration and Administrative Services (GRAO) to verify whether the presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the October 25, 2026, vote hold citizenship by birth. The CEC press office clarified that the administration will process the submitted candidate lists in a structured electronic format, following the order of their entry into the commission's register. The entire verification process must be completed by September 24.
In case of disagreement with this decision, it can be appealed before the Supreme Administrative Court. The window for filing an appeal is three days from the moment the decision is officially announced, and it must be submitted through the Central Election Commission.
