Preparations for the 1 November presidential runoff have begun, the Central Election Commission (CEC) said.

The CEC has approved the specifications for the paper ballot in the second round and signed off on the print run. The order has gone to the printing works of the Bulgarian National Bank.

Data from the memory sticks of the voting machines will be archived so it can be used in the runoff. Experts from the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation will do this, using the ministry's own equipment.

For the second round, 280 new machines will be sent abroad.

All regional election commissions must hand in their protocols from Sunday's first round to the CEC by the end of today for a second check. The CEC will announce the results tomorrow, when it meets from 9am.
