The Executive Bureau of the BSP calls on the members of parliament from the parliamentary group (PG) of "BSP-United Left" to support the veto of President Iliana Yotova by not re-accepting the disputed amendments to the Electoral Code. This was stated by the chairman of the BSP, Krum Zarkov, at a press conference after the first meeting of the new party leadership.

The parliamentary group of "BSP-United Left" still cannot unite on the issue of the veto on the changes to the Electoral Code and the restriction of the number of polling stations abroad, therefore, we had to make a political decision at the Executive Bureau of the BSP, he explained.

A veto is overcome only with "for" votes, i.e. every vote against the re-acceptance of the law, every non-participation in the vote is support for the president's veto, Zarkov noted.

Parliamentary mathematics shows that the parties that support the restriction of polling stations abroad, in total, have 115 MPs. Six are sought, and it is a matter of party conscience that these six should not be from the ranks of the BSP, because this inflicts enormous damage to our principled positions regarding the political rights of citizens, as well as our support for President Yotova, whose first act as president - this veto, could be blocked, commented Krum Zarkov. This should not happen with the votes of MPs from "BSP-United Left" and I believe in their understanding, he added.
