A large MAN bus registered in Pazardzhik brought traffic in central Burgas to a halt when its driver pulled back from entering the underpass below Troika Square and swung sharply right instead. The move left the bus stuck right in front of the new Trinity residential building on the square, just a few metres from the entrance, unable to move forward, and blocking the exit of a private car park.

The space in front of the building was too tight for a vehicle that size to turn around, so the only option left was to reverse back into the main road.

The driver said he had been heading to the bus park on Gen. Gurko Street, following a route his GPS had set through the underpass. At the last moment he got worried the bus was too tall to pass safely through the tunnel, so he turned right instead.

Police were on the scene to secure the area and briefly stop traffic while the bus reversed. Without that, backing up would have been risky given how busy Hristo Botev Boulevard is.

The driver managed the manoeuvre on his own, without help from police. At 5:20pm he reversed out, cleared the spot and drove off along Hristo Botev Boulevard.
