US military disables tanker in the Gulf of Oman

The US armed forces have struck a tanker in the Gulf of Oman after the vessel attempted to breach the naval blockade of Iran, a US military official told CNN. According to him, the crew ignored several warnings, and the ship was disabled following a strike to the engine room.

"The US armed forces disabled a tanker in the Gulf of Oman after the ship's crew attempted to breach the US naval blockade at least four times," the official stated.

He added that the crew had been warned repeatedly but failed to comply with the orders. Following the intervention of US forces, the ship was left unable to continue its transit to Iran.

According to CNN, this is the first instance of the US military disabling a commercial ship since the US resumed the blockade earlier this month. Earlier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that since the resumption of the blockade of Iranian ports, it has diverted 12 commercial vessels.
