Bulgarian citizens are becoming poorer while the prices of goods and services continue to rise due to government inaction, Alexander Ivanov emphasized. Speaking to journalists in the corridors of Parliament, the GERB-SDS MP stated that adequate solutions and measures are expected "from Radev's incoming government to tackle high fuel prices".

"The government has immense influence over the sector, yet we are not seeing adequate solutions. Every day of delay by the Radev government leads to Bulgarian citizens falling into poverty and the prices of goods and services increasing," he added.

According to the GERB-SDS representative, inflation in Bulgaria reached 5.1% in August—a value that is record-high for the European continent. He warned that if the government does not take action, further increases in fuel prices will lead to even higher inflation in September.

Despite this being the fourth consecutive month, prices are not stabilizing but continue to climb. Ivanov pointed out that there are numerous ways to handle the situation, including changes to VAT or excise duties.

High fuel prices and inflation directly affect the cost of living and transport in Burgas and the region.

Despite the record deficit of 5.6% caused by high gasoline prices, unforeseen and high revenues are expected in the treasury through VAT and excise lines, which will "offset" this deficit. According to the MP, such a situation works in favor of both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance.
