44-year-old man detained for arson of diplomatic cars in front of the Bulgarian embassy in Skopje

The police in "Skopje" have detained a "44-year-old man" suspected of the arson of two diplomatic vehicles in front of the "Bulgarian embassy" on Monday. This was announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the "Republic of North Macedonia," noting that the investigation into the case is ongoing.

The detainee, with initials "I. D.", is a resident of Skopje and is currently at a police station. According to the authorities' information, the clothing he wore during the commission of the crime has also been discovered. In coordination with the competent prosecutor, actions are being taken for the "full clarification of the case," after which the relevant charges will be brought against the perpetrator under "urgent proceedings."

The Prime Minister of North Macedonia, "Hristijan Mickoski," stated in an interview that "the person who committed this criminal act has been found and is currently being questioned to see the motives that contributed to what happened during the day, to see what inspired this person to do what they did." He emphasized that they are looking not only for the facts surrounding the act but also for the reasons behind it.

Mickoski added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in Skopje "is in constant communication," and Foreign Minister "Timcho Mucunski" has informed him "that he has spoken with his colleague." Thus, the Prime Minister made it clear that diplomatic dialogue regarding the case is being maintained with the Bulgarian side as well.

Back on Monday, the government of the "Republic of North Macedonia" categorically condemned the "vandalism and arson" of vehicles with diplomatic status. Bulgaria also condemned the act of aggression, emphasizing that such incidents are unacceptable and contrary to the spirit of good neighborliness and international law.
