With excitement, smiles, and a festive mood, Pomorie welcomed the new school year. For another year, September 15 brought together children, students, teachers, and parents in the municipality's schools and kindergartens, all united by a shared pursuit of knowledge, development, and new opportunities.

During the 2026/2027 school year, a total of 2255 students will be studying in schools within the Pomorie municipality, 233 of whom are first graders. In kindergartens, 1041 children will be enrolled, receiving care, education, and support during their first steps on the path of knowledge.

"September 15 is a day that carries a special emotion – for the children crossing the school threshold for the first time, for their parents, and for all the teachers who build the future every single day. Our responsibility is to create increasingly better conditions for the education, development, and safety of children in the Pomorie municipality," said Mayor Ivan Aleksiev, who attended all the celebrations in the town of Pomorie.

The first day of school also brought another important reason for pride: a STEM center was opened at KG "Detelina" – Pomorie, the first of its kind in the Pomorie municipality and the region. The space was entirely funded and implemented directly by the kindergarten under the leadership of Director Tanya Arabadzhieva. By implementing modern and interactive approaches, the center will allow children to engage with the worlds of engineering, technology, science, and mathematics from a very early age. STEM education focuses on developing creative thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving skills – qualities that are crucial for every child's future.

Pomorie Municipality also participated in the National Initiative "THE FUTURE ON THE ROAD," held on September 15, by organizing student/child patrols to welcome first graders, children, their parents, students, and guests to the celebrations at educational institutions within the municipality.

The initiative focuses on the safety of children as road users and encourages the building of a lasting culture of responsible behavior on the road. Education in road safety is a process that begins at an early age and requires the collective efforts of families, educational institutions, local authorities, and society as a whole. By participating, Pomorie Municipality declares its commitment to creating a safer environment for children and to fostering the knowledge and habits that can save lives.
