120 fires in 24 hours: Two injured and dozens of rescue operations

An intensive day for firefighters in the country

Over the past 24 hours, the teams of the General Directorate of Fire Safety and Civil Protection (GDFSCP) have responded to 168 incident reports. As a result of their efforts, a total of 120 fires were extinguished, with, unfortunately, two people injured.

Fire departments across the country are reporting high activity, with a large portion of the incidents causing no direct material damage.

Distribution of fires

Data from the Ministry of Interior shows that 18 of the fires resulted in direct material damage:

• 3 fires in residential buildings;
• 4 fires in auxiliary, temporary, or makeshift structures;
• 3 fires in vehicles;
• 4 fires in agriculture;
• 1 fire in outdoor facilities;
• 3 other incidents.

The remaining 102 fires caused no material losses. A large portion of them occurred in dry grass, forest litter, and bushes (54 cases), as well as in waste (39 cases) and stubble (3 cases).

Rescue operations and false alarms

In addition to extinguishing fires, the teams carried out 42 rescue operations. These included:

• Providing assistance in accidents;
• Responding to domestic and industrial incidents;
• Removal of dangerous objects;
• Animal rescue and drainage;
• Assistance to other structures and aid to citizens.

The GDFSCP reminds that six false calls were also made to the services, which unnecessarily engage the teams' resources.
