Fire crews across Bulgaria put out 106 fires in the past 24 hours, and one person was hurt. The figures come from the interior ministry's fire safety directorate and cover the period up to 6am this morning.

Crews responded to 149 emergency calls in total.

Fourteen of the fires caused damage: eight in homes, one in a vehicle, one in agriculture and one in an outdoor facility.

The other 92 fires caused no damage. Most of them, 53, broke out in dry grass, forest litter and bushes, 29 were rubbish fires, three involved cookers and chimneys, and two broke out in stubble fields.

Crews also carried out 40 rescue and support operations, five of them after road crashes. There were three false alarms.
