The National Academy of Arts reveals an exceptional cultural project that restores forgotten artistic heritage from the mid-20th century. The large-scale exhibition "An Unknown Collection. Works from Valko Chervenkov's Residence" will present artistic works that have been preserved in complete obscurity for decades.

The mining company "Dundee Precious Metals Chelopech" donates an impressive collection of 49 artworks, covering a period from the late 19th century to the mid-1950s. The collection was acquired together with the "Sredna Gora" residence near Zlatitsa, which once belonged to the communist leader Valko Chervenkov.

The exhibition presents remarkable Bulgarian artists, including Anton Mitov, Konstantin Shtarkelov, Nikola Tanev, and Yordan Geshev. The works of foreign artists from Croatia, Czech Republic, Austria, and Italy also attract special interest, including names such as Menci Crnčić and Karl Ludwig Prinz.

The official opening of the exhibition is planned for July 10 at 6:00 PM at the Maritime Casino Cultural Center. The ceremony will be accompanied by performances by the Burgas Brass Orchestra under the direction of conductor Anastas Kamilarov. Admission will be free on the opening day.

The project is being implemented through the museum program of the National Academy of Arts, with curator Milena Balcheva-Bozhkova and her professional team of experts as the main coordinators.

Visitors will be able to view the exhibition in two halls – "Georgi Baev" and "Al. G. Kodjakafalia" from July 10 to August 16, 2025. Operating hours are from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily.

Entrance fees are differentiated: 10 leva for adults, 5 leva for students and pensioners, and free for children under 7 years old.

Financial support for the project has been secured through a competition for scientific and artistic creative activity of the National Academy of Arts for 2024.
