Leading Bulgarian economic experts are leveling sharp criticism at the "Anti-Speculation" bill, presented by MP Maya Manolova. According to professional analysts, the proposed legislative act carries multiple significant risks for the market environment and could potentially trigger unpredictable economic consequences.

Tsvetan Tsekov, chairman of the Fruits and Vegetables Chamber, emphasizes a fundamental problem in the bill - the lack of a mechanism to track the initial trade transaction. "The market is controlled by commercial entities that dominate over two-thirds of the market space," the expert categorically states.

Financial analyst Preslav Raykov describes the bill as "insane" and completely detached from economic reality. According to him, the proposed measures will not only fail to achieve the desired effect but may also cause additional market chaos.

The main drawback of the bill lies in the attempt for direct state intervention in market relations. Experts warn that such an approach may disrupt natural market mechanisms and create artificial restrictions for commercial entities.

A key point in the criticism is the lack of a real competitive environment in Bulgarian production. "When production is weak, natural competition is absent," Tsekov explains. This means that traders and importers maintain their dominant market position.

Analysts predict two possible scenarios if the law is eventually adopted: commercial entities will either raise prices before its entry into force or cause additional price imbalance after its termination.

The experts' recommendation is to focus on stabilizing Bulgarian production and creating a real competitive environment, instead of attempting to artificially regulate market prices.

The "Anti-Speculation" bill represents another attempt at populist intervention in economic processes, which may have a reverse effect on pricing and market dynamics.

The question remains open whether MPs will listen to expert opinions or continue with attempts at direct state regulation of market relations.
