In search of a Bulgarian equivalent for "stand-up" comedy, the concept is simple: one person stands in front of an audience with a microphone in hand, and as they speak, the audience laughs. If we look back at the roots of traditional Bulgarian gatherings (sedyanka) and apply a direct translation from English, the genre could be called "stoyanka" (stand-up/standing gathering). It is under this motto that Dimitar Donski and Zho invite humor enthusiasts to their upcoming show "You're Going to Insult Me" at the NHK Cultural Center, which will take place on October 17, 2026.
Dimitar Donski is an experienced comedian who embarks on large-scale tours in over 20 cities each year, having gained his experience directly in the USA. Partnering with him is Zho – a creator who spent time in the Burgas complex "Meden Rudnik" with the mission of exploring modern life and culture in detail, turning them into comedic gems. Both artists have dedicated themselves to their calling of exposing themselves publicly to help the audience laugh at the daily hardships of life, looking their fears straight in the eye.
As part of the "You're Going to Insult Me" program, the artists will discuss topics that frighten us or that we are ashamed of, promising a performance with no filters, no inhibitions, and no unnecessary prejudices. The organizers invite everyone who wishes to share in the freedom of speech in a relaxed atmosphere, warning: "If you don't come, you will insult them." For the comfort and organization of the event, the following details are provided:
- DOORS: 18:30
- START: 19:00
It is important to note that the show is not recommended for persons under the age of 16.
