Daniela Ivanova-Nyberg: A Poetic Voice Between Two Worlds - Bulgaria and the USA

The established Bulgarian poet Daniela Ivanova-Nayberg continues her mission of cultural mediation between Bulgaria and the USA through her next creative expression. The upcoming presentation of the poetry collection "Under the Hats of Trees" will take place on August 13th as part of the "With a Book on the Beach" festival in Burgas.

In an emotional invitation to her fans, shared on Facebook, the author announces a joint performance with Ivaylo Ninchev, which will combine poetry, music, and possible improvisational elements such as song or dance. "Come and see what the moment, place, and meeting will bring," Ivanova-Nayberg invites.

Parallel to the Burgas meeting, on August 12th at 7:00 PM at the Ivan Vazov National Library in Plovdiv, another literary event "Under the Hats of Trees and Other Places" will be held, which will also include the poet Aziz Nazmi Shakir.

The official premiere of the poetry collection took place in October 2024 in Sofia, where Raina Mandzhukova from the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad presented Ivanova-Nayberg with the prestigious commemorative medal "Paisius of Hilendar".

Her professional biography impresses with its multidirectional and academic profile. Holding a doctoral degree in ethnochoreology from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, she is a graduate of Sofia University with education in Bulgarian philology, philosophy, and culturology.

Her creative path includes numerous publications in authoritative literary publications such as "Literary Newspaper" and "Lyuboslov". Ivanova-Nayberg is the author of several poetry collections, including "Smell of Water", "The Last Sunday of September", and "In the Ear of the Seashell".

Beyond her literary career, she is actively developing as a cultural ambassador. In Seattle, USA, she leads programs at the Bulgarian Center for Culture and Heritage, including folklore dance groups and initiatives to promote Bulgarian culture.

Her mission has received international recognition - in 2022, she received the BgFACE Foundation award for exceptional contribution to the spread of Bulgarian language, literature, and cultural heritage in the USA.

Her monographic study "The Folk Dance Ensemble as a Cultural Phenomenon in Bulgaria" is the result of a competition won from the Ministry of Culture and additionally supported by Bulgarian cultural enthusiasts across the ocean.

As the founder of the Society for Poetry and Literary Prose "Glagolnitsa", Daniela Ivanova-Nayberg continues to build bridges between two cultural spaces, proving that art knows no boundaries.
