Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh held a meeting with H.E. Miguel Alonso Berrio, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Bulgaria. The two discussed the possibilities for expanding the partnership between institutions and the tourism business in the two countries, as well as specific initiatives to deepen the bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism.
Borshosh stressed that Spain is among the key partners of Bulgaria in tourism, and the number of Spanish tourists visiting the country is constantly increasing. In 2024, they were over 112,000, and in the first three months of 2025 alone, close to 20,000 Spaniards have chosen Bulgaria as their destination. The Minister expressed confidence that this interest will continue to grow through joint projects and initiatives.
During the meeting, the leading motives for Spaniards to visit Bulgaria were discussed, including cultural and urban tourism. Minister Borshosh pointed out that the most preferred destinations for Spaniards are Sofia Municipality, Plovdiv, Veliko Tarnovo, and Burgas.
