In the foothills of the Strandzha Mountain, on the territory of Bulgaria, one of the most remarkable archaeological monuments rises – Beglik Tash. This megalithic complex spans an area of about 6 decares and reveals an exceptionally rich historical panorama, dating from the period between the second half of the second and the first half of the first millennium before the new era.

Field studies reveal an extremely intriguing picture of an ancient sanctuary, which was likely used as a cult center for the Thracian tribes inhabiting this region. Archaeologists have identified numerous impressive structures, including huge rock blocks arranged with precise mathematical accuracy, which seem to have been part of a complex astronomical and religious complex.

The most remarkable feature of the site are the so-called rock compositions, which demonstrate exceptional knowledge of architecture and engineering. Some of the monumental stones weigh more than 100 tons, which raises serious questions about the technological capabilities of the ancient Thracians and their ability to manipulate such enormous stone masses.

Archaeologists have discovered multiple ritual areas, including special platforms that were used for ceremonial activities. One of the most interesting discoveries is the central platform, which is believed to have had a sacred character and was associated with astronomical observations and religious practices.

Field studies reveal that the complex was actively used during different historical periods. The findings include ceramic fragments, metal artifacts, and other archaeological materials that confirm the continuity of human presence in this area.

Beglik Tash represents an exceptional monument that provides a unique insight into the spiritual and cultural life of the ancient Thracians. Its significance goes beyond local boundaries and makes it one of the most important archaeological sites in Bulgaria, which continues to arouse the interest of researchers from around the world.

Currently, the site is part of the archaeological reserve and represents an exceptional tourist attraction that allows visitors to peek into the past of one of the oldest European peoples.
