Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey have agreed to hold urgent talks on shipping safety in the Black Sea, President Iliana Iotova said in Kazanlak.

The six Black Sea states will also hold talks on a ban on the use of drones.

Iotova also spoke about peace efforts for Ukraine, which has been under full-scale attack from Russia since February 2022. "I am in favour of doing everything possible to form a coalition for peace as soon as possible, a European proposal in which Bulgaria takes an active part," the president said.

She wants Bulgaria to put forward its own text for peace in Ukraine. She says the aim is to stop the fighting, with all sides taking part. But Russia started the war by invading Ukraine, which is defending itself.
