President Ilyana Yotova met UN General Assembly Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie Louise Mushikiwabo. The meeting took place while she was in New York for the UN General Assembly. The president's press office announced this.

The two discussed the upcoming election of a new secretary-general for the organisation, as well as the Francophonie summit due to be held in Cambodia. Yotova and Mushikiwabo agreed that the values of the Francophonie — peace, security, freedom, equality and tolerance — matter now more than ever, the press office said.

Ilyana Yotova is in New York leading the Bulgarian delegation at the general debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. Yesterday she took the podium to address the delegates.
