Bulgaria wants long-term investment from China and joint industrial projects, deputy minister of economy, investment and industry Krasimir Yakimov has said. He spoke at the 2026 annual meeting of the Bulgarian-Chinese Chamber for Industrial Development in Sofia, the ministry's press office said.
Yakimov said China is a partner with room for more cooperation in several industrial sectors. "We want more investment in Bulgaria, more joint production and higher added value for Bulgarian business," he said.
The meeting's motto was "Partnership in Motion". Yakimov said the chamber helps to find specific investment opportunities and to develop joint industrial projects.
Bulgaria does not want to be just a dot on the map of the European market, he said. The aim is for investors to build factories, technology and long-term ventures here. He said the country has an industrial base, skilled workers and firms with experience in international production and partnerships.
Yakimov said the state wants investment that builds on existing production, creates lasting jobs and supports local suppliers. He said state bodies are working to make the environment for investors more predictable and efficient, to coordinate better with each other and to remove red tape for business.
"We are working so that investors get clear answers and concrete solutions, and so that the state is their natural partner," Yakimov said.
In the first half of September, deputy prime minister Pulev opened the 19th session of the Bulgarian-Chinese Intergovernmental Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation in Beijing. He named attracting investment and expanding trade as the main priorities in economic ties with China.
