Impressive growth for Opel in 2026: SUV sales jumped by 37%

A successful half-year for Opel: Growth in market share and interest in SUV models

The German brand Opel solidified its upward momentum in the first half of 2026. In the period from January to June, Opel and its British sister company Vauxhall achieved a total of approximately 313,000 vehicle sales globally. The passenger car segment performed particularly strongly, with growth of over 7% compared to last year.

"Thanks to our attractive product portfolio and consistent electrification strategy, we continue to increase our market share," commented Florian Huettl, CEO of Opel and Vauxhall.

The SUV range – a key driver of success

Customer interest is primarily focused on the brand's latest generation of models. Opel's SUV family, including the Grandland, Frontera, and Mokka, recorded a global sales growth of over 37%. The new Vauxhall Frontera is establishing itself as a leader in the electric B-SUV segment with a market share of approximately 16% in the British market.

Opel Corsa remains an unshakable favorite

• In Germany: Corsa solidified its position as the No. 1 small car with a market share of 17.2%.
• In the United Kingdom: Vauxhall Corsa remains the leader in the compact hatchback segment with a share of over 13%.

Strong growth for Opel in Bulgaria

The Bulgarian market also shows excellent results. The brand recorded a 2.54% market share for the first half of the year, which represents a remarkable 53% growth compared to the same period in 2025. The most preferred model in the country is the new Opel Frontera with 328 registrations.

With these results, Opel looks with confidence toward the second half of the year, relying on its proven competitiveness in the electric vehicle and hybrid solutions segment.
