Chain-reaction crash near Nesebar: woman injured, truck driver at fault

On August 18, at approximately 11:13 a.m., on the main Burgas – Varna road, a chain-reaction collision occurred in a section located within the territory of Nesebar Municipality, resulting in injuries to one woman. The incident took place at kilometer 212 of the route and was caused by a truck whose driver did not adjust their speed to the road conditions and heavy traffic.

According to official information, the accident began when an "Iveco" truck, with Sofia registration, driven by a 24-year-old resident of Burgas, was traveling at high speed. As a result of their inadequate behavior on the road, they failed to stop in time and hit the passenger car in front of them, a "Volkswagen T-roc". The impact was so strong that it caused a chain reaction.

The driver of the "Volkswagen" was a 60-year-old man from Sofia, whose car, after the initial collision, was pushed forward and hit a third vehicle. This was a "Dacia Duster" passenger car, which had a Burgas registration and was driven by a 49-year-old man from Burgas.

As a result of the collision, a 54-year-old woman traveling in the "Volkswagen" car sustained serious injuries. She was taken to the "Heart and Brain" hospital, where she was admitted for treatment. Medical examinations found that the victim had suffered a concussion, as well as contusions to her shoulder girdle and arm. Fortunately, doctors report that her condition is stable and there is no danger to her life.

The causes of the incident are being investigated by the competent authorities, but initial data suggest that the 24-year-old truck driver is at fault for the chain-reaction collision, as they failed to follow a basic road safety rule – to drive at a speed appropriate for the situation and traffic. The incident once again raises the issue of road discipline and the need for stricter control of speed limits, especially on the country's busy road arteries.
