Varna: Residents of the Chaika district against a green parking zone

From November 20th, the Varna neighborhood “Chayka“ will see the introduction of a green parking zone, a decision that is causing strong dissatisfaction among local residents. They express serious concerns about a potential shortage of parking spaces, which could significantly complicate their daily lives.

On the streets of the neighborhood, congested with cars as the residents describe the situation, the atmosphere is tense. A change is coming that could lead to serious inconveniences, especially for those who rely on parking near their homes.

"Our neighborhood is already congested with cars. The municipality hasn't built a single parking lot so far, and now they want to make us pay and reduce the parking spaces," shares Bistra Ivanova, reflecting the widespread dissatisfaction.

Another resident, Marsian Anakiev, does not hide his outrage: "We are firmly against the introduction of a green zone. The municipality is breaking the law in our name."

In response to a question from the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) about what citizens will do after the introduction of the new rules, the answer is categorical: "Well, there will be guerilla warfare. What will we do?" This clearly demonstrates the people's determination to oppose the innovation.

The local authorities, however, have a different position. They assure that the measure is intended to regulate parking and ease traffic in the area, especially near the Sea Garden. Deputy Mayor Iliya Koev points out that about 3,000 parking spaces will be created after the introduction of the green zone.

"The "Green Zone" tool is meant to regulate parking in the area. You all know, this is a neighborhood that is next to the Sea Garden; during the day, citizens from the interior of the city come, stop, and impede traffic and stopping. Therefore, the zone will regulate this thing," Koev explains. He emphasizes that the goal is to deal with the difficulties caused by the parking of external visitors in the neighborhood.
