More than 600 incidents involving ships have happened in the Black Sea since Russia launched its full-scale war on Ukraine in February 2022, defence minister Dimitar Stoyanov told a hearing of the parliamentary defence committee.

The incidents are not limited to Bulgaria's exclusive economic zone and cover the whole region, Stoyanov said. He said they will most likely continue.

The minister also said no organisation in Bulgaria, Ukraine or Russia is able to stop them.

Prime minister Rumen Radev reported new drone attacks on ships in the Black Sea this morning.
