Running, art and green activities brought people together in Burgas's Zornitsa district for the "Go green" event, Burgas council said. See our original report: Burgas to hold free run, bike ride and tree planting on October 4.
Children took part in a tree-adoption event, and there was also a graffiti workshop, a stage show and activities for younger kids. A 5km run called "Outrun yourself" was also held.
St Anastasia children's hospital hosted the event. Burgas deputy mayors Vesna Baltina and Manol Todorov took part, along with hospital director Blagomir Zdravkov and doctors from his team. The Burgas regional information centre helped organise the day, with extra support from the official tourism site Go to Burgas.
Those taking part included the Burgas cycling community, Esteo Esteroni, the Goethe German-language high school, the Lyuben Groys theatre college, Zvezditsa-Zornitsa kindergarten, Zumba with Ili, the Burgas branch of Sofia University "St Kliment Ohridski", Burgas Run, 5kmrun, Papa Beer, and the information systems department of the Council of Ministers' administration.
Burgas council said the day showed how important it is to turn talk about adapting to climate change into real action that brings people together.
The day ended with the arrival of the international COP31 Bike Ride cycling relay. The event is part of the Regions4Climate project, number 101093873, funded under the Horizon Europe programme.
