Emergency teams demonstrate coordinated actions in a simulated serious road accident

During the tactical exercise conducted today on the Sliven-Yambol road, a situation with a serious road accident at the 268th kilometer of the Trakia motorway in the direction of Sofia was simulated. According to the call made to the 112 emergency number, several vehicles were involved in the incident, with information about seriously injured persons.

The competent structures - the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sliven, the Regional Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection", the Emergency Medical Assistance Center in Sliven, as well as the Situation Center of the Road Infrastructure Agency - were immediately informed and mobilized. The teams arriving at the scene found that a chain accident had occurred, in which two of the vehicles were seriously damaged, and one of the drivers was trapped in his car.

The firefighters used special equipment to free the injured person, after which he was taken over by the emergency medical team. Given the large distance to a suitable medical facility, it was decided to call a medical helicopter. After coordinating with the regional coordination center, a helicopter was dispatched from the operational base in Sliven, which landed at the incident site and transported the injured person to the hospital.

Meanwhile, an inspection of the incident was carried out by the on-duty operational group of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sliven, and the Regional Road Administration removed the damaged vehicles and restored normal traffic on the motorway.

Senior Commissioner Dimitar Velichkov, highly evaluating the exercise, emphasizes that a thorough analysis will be carried out to identify both the positive and negative aspects, and measures will be taken to increase the effectiveness in similar emergency situations. Commissioner Dimitar Kikyo, Head of the Public Order Police Department, states that the main goal was to verify the operational compatibility of the different services, while following all necessary procedures. He proposes that air ambulance be included in the operational action plan.

The exercise involved employees from the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sliven, the Regional Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection", the Emergency Medical Assistance Center, the operational base of "Bulgaria Heli Med Service" EAD in Sliven, the National 112 System Directorate, the Regional Center in Burgas, the Regional Road Administration, the municipality and the regional administration in Sliven.
